Product Description:

SikaSeal® -414 Backer Rod is a non absorbent, compressible grey closed cell polyethylene foam backing material.

Usage:

• As a backing material for cold applied joint and as a joint filler in order to achieve the required thickness of the sealant.
• As a Bond-Breaker that enables correct joint sealing.
• Creating a backstop to allow proper sealant tooling.

Application Steps:

Step 1 :

Insert the rod to the required depth, paying great attention so that the rod is not damaged, cut or perforated by this process. Do not use sharp tools (e.g. screw drivers or knives). During insertion, avoid excessive stretching of the backing rod. 

Step 2 : 

Once inserted, follow the normal process of sealing the joint and tooling the sealant.
