Product Description:

SikaCeram®-88 is a one-pack premixed cementitious tile adhesive containing, cement, polymers, quartz minerals and additives, for bonding ceramic tiles and mosaics to floors and walls.

Usage:

Used for bonding ceramic tiles in continuous thin layers, up to 10mm thick. Due to excellent adhesion, it can be used in situations where traditional tile adhesives for bonding tiles are not suitable due to the type of tile. 

Suitable to bond the following types of tiles:

• Ceramic and mosaic tiles
• Porcelain tiles (SikaCeram®-88 shall be mixed with SikaLatex®-88 or SikaLatex®-118)

Suitable for substrates on walls and floor internally on:

• Concrete and mortar
• Bricks

Storage Conditions:

Store properly in original, unopened and undamaged sealed packaging in dry conditions. Not sensitive to frost.

Application Guide:

• Mixing Ratio : 5.5 - 6.0 L water per 25kg bag

• Layer Thickness : 3mm (min.) ; 10mm (max.)

• Substrate Temperature : +5 °C (min.) ; +40 °C (max.)
• Open Time : ~20 minutes under normal temperature and humidity conditions (shorter in unfavorable conditions)
• Applied Product Ready for Use (at 25 °C):
  • Before jointing works (min. 24hours)
  • Before opening to light foot traffic (min. 24 hours)
  • Before opening to full traffic (min. 7 days)
• Adjustability Time : within ~20 minutes (at 20°C) once tiles are placed into mortar
• Consumption :
  • Mosaics and small tiles:
    • Coverage : ~2.0–3.0 kg/m²
  • Normal size tiles (30 cm × 30 cm)
    • Coverage : ~5.0–5.5 kg/m²
  • Large size tiles up to 3600 cm² (internal floors)
    • ~10.0–11.0 kg/m²

Application Steps:

Step 1 : Mixing

• Place about 80% of pre-measured clean water or SikaLatex®-88 / SikaLatex®-118 into a clean container and gradually add the whole bag of SikaCeram®-88 into it while continuously mixing.
• Add the remaining water until the desired consistency is obtained.
• Mix thoroughly for a minimum of 3 minutes.
• Leave SikaCeram 88 for a minimum of 5 minutes.
• Then, remix the material for another 15 seconds. 
• The product is now ready for use.

Step 2 : Application

• Spread onto substrate using proper and suitable notched trowel to give the right thickness on the back of the tile.
• Spread adhesive max. 1 m² at a time to avoid skinning
• Check surface — rework if skin forms before tiling
• Press the tile in a perpendicular motion and tapped into position to ensure full contact with the adhesive. (removes trapped air)
• Back-butter tiles if uneven / grooved backing
• Recommended thickness:
  • Wall: ≥ 4 mm
  • Floor: ≥ 8 mm
• Do not disturb tiles for 6–8 hours

Tile Size Guide

• Indoor floor: up to 60 × 60 cm (3600 cm²)
• Indoor wall: up to 30 × 60 cm (1800 cm²)

Step 3 : Cleaning of Tools

• Clean all tools and application equipment with water immediately after use.
• Hardened or cured material can only be removed mechanically.
